INVITATION TO POETRY

Will you not venture
Into these still waters?
They are not clothed in slime
Nor treacherous.
This pool is young
For all its depth,
And offers no excuse for absent
Cataracts and whirlpools.
But waits to fill the creviced earth
And calm the steaming hills.
This is a gentle pool.
