TRYIN'

Livin' in this world is such a tryin' thing -
Tryin' to keep your knees from gettin' skinned,
Tryin' to get along with folks y' don't quite like,
Tryin' to keep y'r hat on in the wind -

Tryin' to know what's best to keep rememberin'
And what y'r better off to just forget,
Tryin' to know when things is funny enough to laugh,
Tryin' to keep y'r chin up and not fret -

Tryin' to do what's right when maybe nothin' is,
Tryin' every day and sometimes night -
I just hope that when I'm all done tryin'
The Good Lord knows I've tried with all my might.
